Mary and Kierk are children living on opposite sides of an animal preserve.

The animal preserve is owned and operated by Mary's parents.

Kierk, however, likes to spend time in the middle of the preserve where a large pine tree lives.

In that pine tree Kierk has built a tree house.

One day, Mary and her family moved into the house they owned on the opposite side of the preserve.

Being a precocious and curious child, Mary discovered the tree house in the pine tree.

She took it over.

Kierk was not pleased with this development. The tree house is where all the "magic" happens.
